📡 LI New Business Radar

Frequently asked questions

Where does this list come from?

From the New York Department of State's public filing data, published daily on data.ny.gov as "Daily Corporation and Other Entity Filing Data." We keep new LLCs (Articles of Organization), new corporations (Certificates of Incorporation) and out-of-state companies registering to do business in NY (Applications for Authority) whose principal office county is Nassau or Suffolk.

How often is it updated?

The site refreshes from the state data every day. The weekly email goes out on Mondays and covers the most recent seven days of filings the state has published. The state's data usually lags a day or two behind.

Is every one of these an open business?

No. A filing means someone formed a legal entity. Many are real new shops and services, but some are holding companies, real estate LLCs or side projects that may never open a storefront.

Why do some rows say the town is not listed?

We show the town from the address the company gave the state for legal papers (service of process). When that address is off Long Island, often a registered agent or a law office upstate, we leave the town blank instead of guessing.

Do you include emails or phone numbers?

No. The state data has no emails or phone numbers, and we don't add or sell owner contact details. If you contact a new business, follow the law, including CAN-SPAM for email and the Do Not Call rules for phone.

Who is this for?

People who serve brand-new Long Island businesses: accountants and bookkeepers, insurance agents, payroll and merchant-services reps, sign and print shops, web designers, commercial cleaners, and anyone curious about what's opening near them.

How much does it cost?

The website and the weekly email are free right now. If we add a paid version later, such as a downloadable spreadsheet, we'll say so clearly and the free email will keep going.

My business is listed and I'd rather it weren't. What can I do?

These are public state records, but we're happy to remove a listing from this site. Email hello@whatsbeingbuiltli.com with the exact business name.
